When should I book my newborn session?

A limited number of sessions are booked each month so that each client receives undivided, personal attention. To ensure that you receive a session please contact us as soon as you have an approximate due date.  We will pencil this into the calendar upon booking.  You will then contact us when your baby arrives to schedule your actual session.

When will my session take place?

Newborns are easiest to photograph when they are less than two weeks old, with the ideal range between 7-10 days.  This is when babies are sleepiest and easiest to pose. Contact us as soon as your baby is born so that we can make sure your session is timed just right.

My baby is already born.  Is it too late to schedule a newborn session?

Definitely not. While we generally book newborn sessions many months in advance, we do sometimes have last-minute openings.  We are always happy to photograph older babies with the understanding that it may not be possible to achieve all of the same poses as younger newborns.

Where will my newborn session take place?

Newborn sessions take place in your home. We will bring everything necessary for the shoot and will send you a preparation guide before hand so that you will know what to expect.

How long will my newborn session last?

Newborn sessions last from two to four hours. If you are able to follow the preparation guidelines that we give you ahead of time it may allow for a more fluid shoot. But newborn sessions are always unpredictable.

What can I do to help my session go smoothly?

The most important thing you can do is relax.  Beyond that, I recommend that you try to keep your newborn awake for an hour prior to the session, and that you feed your baby just prior to my arrival.  If you are breast feeding, it is best to keep a full bottle of expressed milk on hand for use during the session.  Pacifiers are also extremely helpful for allowing us to calm your baby during the session. Extra diapers, wipes, and burp cloths should be on hand as well. We bring a small heater to keep baby warm but keeping the home warm helps as well.

What should baby wear?

Simple is best. I photograph newborns wearing nothing at all or with minimal clothing.  If you have special outfits you would like your newborn to wear, I am happy to accommodate, but keep in mind that numerous clothing changes can be disruptive to a newborn shoot.  Please have your newborn in just a diaper and wrapped in a warm blanket or easily removable swaddle when I arrive.

Do you bring props to the session?

Props, baskets, blankets, headbands, hats, and wraps will be provided for the shoot.  Please let me know if you have any personal items you would like to incorporate.  Safety always comes first, so we do not photograph babies in glass bowls or in positions that could be harmful.  We do bring a wide selection of blankets, knit hats, and headbands and sometimes small props.

When will I see my images?

Client galleries are available for review approximately two weeks after a session. They are final, retouched images.

Do you sell digital files?

Yes, I currently offer several packages which may be purchased alone or in addition to prints. Packages start at $500 and digital files may be purchased in addition to some of these packages.

How long do you retain the digital negatives for my images?

Any un-ordered images will be deleted six months after your order is finalized.
